Following [the documentation](https://gluu.org/docs/deployment/#file-descriptor), while attempting to execute the last command, I am getting ``` root@gluu:~# ulimit -n unlimited -bash: ulimit: open files: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted ``` Is there an alternate way that will work on Ubuntu to set this limit?

Hi, Thomas. May be you should try to set it to some reasonably high value instead? To be honest, this has little to do with Gluu itself, as it's a routine linux administrative task, and users are encouraged to search for help from his/her distribution's community/documentation in case of any doubt. Maintaining Gluu-related documentation is by itself quite challenging task, and it's impossible (and infeasible) to track all specifics of 3rd-parties products too. Everything on docs portal that isn't directly related to Gluu should be treated as general guidance, not step by step instructions.

Thanks, that is fair and I understand that completely. I just thought I would let you know since it is in the documentation. I think I've found a way around it.

I've checked the documentation page, and it doesn't say that Ubuntu 14.04 was used for example of this particular command. So it may work for other distros, still. Thanks for letting us know, anyway. I'll be closing this ticket now.
