We haven't tried but we will highly encourage you to install Gluu Server in a system where you will get root privilege or make sure all administrators are in one team who will manage your Gluu Servers. There is a possibility to change location of various components of Gluu Server from setup.py script but 'gluu-server-container' will be installed inside /opt
[Here](https://support.gluu.org/installation/3718/installing-gluu-on-a-different-volume-encrypted/) is one community ticket where user tried to make /opt secondary but I believe he had root privilege and sufficient disk space in /opt as well and he used sym links only.
