Hello Team, 1.i have taken the gluu-server-3.1.6 back-up by using the tar-ball method. 2. I have tried to restore that backup in another System through untar command in /opt folder. In this System we have used the static IP/elastic IP and private IP. We are using AWS cloud. 3. After the restoration of tar file, we have tried to start the Gluu Service and it is failed . Please let me know if you need any other input to resolve the issue

https://gluu.org/docs/ce/operation/backup/ For backup, i have followed these steps from the above link. 1.Stop the server: # service gluu-server-3.1.6 stop 2.Use tar to take a backup: # tar cvf gluu316-backup.tar /opt/gluu-server-3.1.6/ 3.Start the server again: # service gluu-server-3.1.6 start For restore i have followed the below steps:- 1. i have used the Elastic ip & private ip of the same instance what i have used in the previous instance, then i have un-tar the gluu316-backup.tar file as below. 2.tar xvf gluu316-backup.tar in /opt folder. Then I got gluu-server-3.1.6 in /opt folder. 3. Then I have restart the the Gluu by using the command /opt/service gluu-server-3.1.6 start. But it is not working. Getting the below error in my console. root@ip-10-0-0-98:/opt# service gluu-server-3.1.6/ start Failed to start gluu-server-3.1.6-.service: Unit gluu-server-3.1.6-.service not found. ```

I am going to write a doc and publish in our public site on how you can restore Gluu Server with tarball when you change server / vm with same/different ip address.

Thanks for your response. Since we are working on disaster recovery, we need the backup restoration process early.

hi Sahsi , I think the problem is that you have not installed the gluu server 3.1.6 in new installation rather than you just restore the tar build. Just replacing the tar build won't help until you have gluu server installed on that machine. Peform the following steps. Machine 1. a) Stop the server: service gluu-server stop or /sbin/gluu-serverd stop b) Use tar to take a backup: tar cvf gluu40-backup.tar /opt/gluu-server/ Machine 2. a) Installed the gluu server 3.1.6 b) Stop the server: service gluu-server stop or /sbin/gluu-serverd stop c) tar xvf gluu316-backup.tar in /opt folder. d) Start the server again: service gluu-server start or /sbin/gluu-serverd start I hope this will resolve your issue , please feel to revert if any further issue occur. Thanks and Regards Mohit Mali

Hello, In machine-2 whether we are going to keep the existing file gluu-3.1.6-service which is available in /opt folder or it is required to remove . Then untar the file which was exported from machine-1 . When we are taking the back up from machine -1 , it will capture the public and private IP of it in the backup. while restoring , the same IP will be restored in the machine -2 , how the machine-2 IP will be amended in the configuration file ?

Hi Sashi, a) In machine 2 just unzip and replace the file over /opt folder. but please make sure to stop gluu server service before attempting it. b) You can edit the ip by login over gluu server and edit /etc/hosts i) gluu-server-3.1.6 login 2) edit /var/etc file Thanks and Regards Mohit Mali

Hello Mohib/Team, Sorry for the delay response. While taking the backup through the tar command as suggested in the document, it is getting stuck at /opt/gluu-server/proc/kcore and then throwing error "backup not completed". We are taking the backup of gluu version 4.0 I have provided the screen shot in the blow link. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bUmILMxXK-dvlYfyE8B-DE27kzNTZZhi/view?usp=sharing) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aUD7ryv5dTNrIrx2QGl54X0-MGAsLyxL/view?usp=sharing Regards Sashi Bhusan
