Restoration of gluu-server configuration

Hello Mohib/Team, This is related to existing ticket 7587 - restoration-of-gluu-server-configuration. While taking the backup through the tar command as suggested in the document, it is getting stuck at /opt/gluu-server/proc/kcore and then throwing error "backup not completed". Hi Sashi , Thank you for reaching out gluu support , the above mentioned issue is not related to gluu server but with disk space issue of your server , tar utility is running out the disk space to save backup. Hi Mohit/Team, Many many thanks for quick response. As you mentioned it was a space issue. Initially we have tried with 50 GB space, so it it was throwing the error. Now we have tried with 100 GB Server and back up has has happen successfully. Now will try with restoring the backup. Regards Sashi Bhusan

Hey Mohit /Team, We have followed the below steps for restoration in machine-2 as advised by you. a) Installed the gluu server 3.1.6 in Machine - 2. b) Stop the server: service gluu-server stop c) We have extracted the tar file without any error in /opt folder where gluu316-backup.tar and gluu-server-3.1.6 folder exist previously. After extraction, another opt folder is created inside /opt folder which contains the folder gluu-server-3.1.6 . d) Start the server again: service gluu-server start In the log in page it is not accepting the old (the machine-1 instance ) admin password . Hi Sashi, You are extracting in wrong folder in gluu-server 4.0 you have to extract at '/opt/gluu-server' remember you have to extract in this folder so the folder structure after extract will be only on machine 2 '/opt/gluu-server' . There should not be no opt folder instide '/opt' path. File system must be similar in both machine. Thanks and Regards Mohit Mali

Hi Mohit/Team, As suggest we have extracted the .tar file in the /opt/gluu-server-3.1.6. Gluu service restarted without any error after extraction. We are not able to log in the admin with the machine-1 credential. We have logged in through machine-2 admin credential and checked the restoration not happen from machine-1. ``` root@test-gluu:/opt/gluu-server-3.1.6# pwd /opt/gluu-server-3.1.6 root@test-gluu:/opt/gluu-server-3.1.6# ls bin dev gluu316-backup.tar install lib64 mnt proc run srv tmp var boot etc home lib media opt root sbin sys usr root@test-gluu:/opt/gluu-server-3.1.6# tar xvf gluu316-backup.tar ``` Regards Sashi Bhusan

Hi Sashi, But in your initial message you are taking backup of gluu server 4.0 , please confirm that you are trying to restore backup from machine 1 which is running gluu server 3.1.6 to machine 2 which is also running gluu server 3.1.6 right ?

Hi Mohit/Team, Many Thanks for your quick response. Apologies for the miscommunication .. Yes you are correct.. we are using Gluu Server 3.1.6 in both machine i.e Machine - 1 & Machine - 2 for backup and restoration purpose.

Hi Sashi bhusan, I just tried the tar backup and restore works fine for me ,i can login with the machine 1 admin password also my changes are there, Steps as mentioned below 1) on Machine 1 take the backup a) service gluu-server-3.1.6 stop b) tar cvf gluu-backup.tar /opt/gluu-server-3.1.6/ 2) on Machine 2 restore the backup a) service gluu-server-3.1.6 stop b) sudo tar -C / -xvf gluu-backup.tar c) service gluu-server-3.1.6 start d) service gluu-server-3.1.6 login e) edit the new ip configuration of machine 2 by vi /etc/hosts f) service gluu-server-3.1.6 restart Thanks and Regards Mohit Mali
