When logging in as any user (admin or otherwise) the welcome screen hints that you should be able to edit your profile. However, navigating to the profile page just gives us a read-only view of the profile. We've tried to look over the attributes properties (as admin) and nothing stands out in particular. Is there any way for us to set which attributes are editable by the user?

>> Is there any way for us to set which attributes are editable by the user? Yes. There are two options for every attribute. 1. "Edit Type" and 2. "View Type". You can select either put value "Admin" / "user" or both to provide permissions who can view/edit attribute/s. Doc: http://www.gluu.org/docs/admin-guide/oxTrust/configuration/#attributes

Hi Mohib, Thanks for the prompt reply! We have a freshly installed Gluu Community Edition instance which had both the edit type and view type set to both user and admin. Still, when I go to the user profile, I can't change my own attributes at all. We're using the package gluu-server-1.7-0-beta2.amd64.deb as indicated in the [Ubuntu installation instructions](http://www.gluu.org/docs/admin-guide/installation/ubuntu/). A bit of a tangent, but I've been wondering what the Privacy level is for? Where is it used?

Hi Mohib, If I understand your question correctly, I want my users to be able to provide their own nicknames and all other attributes that I don't have a way of knowing of in advance. I'm guessing that you're using the same mechanism for users to change their password, as I don't see a change password button in the profile either.

Ok, makes sense. I created a [ticket](https://github.com/GluuFederation/oxTrust/issues/29) on this issue. I think you can also provide Gluu Server's default registration link to your user; so they will be able to register into IDP by themselves. Registration link should be: https://HOSTNAME/identity/register You can apply advanced level registration process as well. These links might be helpful: * http://www.gluu.org/docs/admin-guide/user-management/registration/ * http://www.gluu.org/docs/admin-guide/registration/ Other than that, as Gluu Server admin; you can change/add/delete attributes / password for any user. Just [search](http://www.gluu.org/docs/admin-guide/user-management/local-user-mgt/) for target user and modify password/attributes for this user. There is also self password reset feature in Gluu Server, which will be documented soon. Hope this helps!

I've decided to look into the issue more and left a [fix suggestion](https://github.com/GluuFederation/oxTrust/issues/29#issuecomment-71625536) in the ticket. Perhaps that could be of help.
