I opted to implement Gluu instead of pure Shibboleth for our university because it simplifies the single sign on ordeal a whole lot. We view Gluu as "Shibboleth on rails" of sorts and don't need it for much more than that. We have about 450 students and maybe 100 faculity members and will rely on Gluu as our sole single sign on solution for federation to external education services as well as internal services. Reliability is therefore sort of critical, but the minimum support fee of 700$ / month is simply -way- to expensive for us and the small number of users. Still, we would like to take advantage of cluster manager to improve availability. Would it be possible for Gluu to review their licensing options? Maybe include an even smaller package that includes barebones support (if at all) but access to Cluster Manager. We would be happy to pay for good software, but cannot afford the options available.

Hi David, There's no perfect licensing strategy. The Gluu Server source code, packages, documentation and community support is free. But it's not an inexpensive product to develop. We offer additional tools to help incentivize organizations to purchase support so we can continue to maintain, extend and support the software. That said, you don't need to use cluster manager to cluster--you can [manually cluster](https://gluu.org/docs/ce/installation-guide/cluster/) your server. However, for 450 users, the cost of clusters is really high. With a good backup strategy, you should be able to meet you uptime requirements without the additional hassle of clusters. Sorry, but we can not afford to provide guaranteed support for less than the existing pricing offered. Best of luck. Will
