SAML SSO with custom login form

I have setup Gluu IdP that works with SAML protocol. Im looking to have a python SP with a custom login page. Is it possible to forward the login details from this custom page to the IdP login page using Python requests library or curl? Once the IdP authenticates, I will forward the redirect URL to the client.
